TorrentFreak first reported on the complaint, filed September 14 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. Denuvo wants monetary damages plus an injunction barring further circumvention of its DRM, including in games that haven't even been made yet. Denuvo doesn't own the copyrights to any of the games listed, so this isn't a copyright infringement case. It rests instead on the DMCA's anti-circumvention provisions, which prohibit bypassing digital locks placed on copyrighted works.
