Why am I seeing this Ranked on source trust — Apple
It ranks mainly on source trust: Apple is the most reliable outlet we track on this subject, and 1 other org has it too.
Hacker News also has it, but as a tier-3 aggregator it is shown for context and counts for nothing in the score.
StandardStandard, because two or more independent orgs carry it, the subject was identified from the text, and it scores 0.54 against a bar of 0.50.
| Factor | Weight | Score | Contribution | Where it came from |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Corroboration | 0.35 | 0.61 | +0.215 40% | 2 distinct tier-1/2 orgs, counted once each: Apple, TechPowerUp and Thurrott. Saturates at 5. |
| Source trustleads | 0.25 | 1.00 | +0.250 47% | Apple is the highest-trust source on this story and is first-party — the organisation announcing its own news. Trust is taken from the best source, not averaged. |
| Pickup rate | 0.20 | 0.00 | +0.000 0% | The sources carry no usable publish times, so the rate could not be measured from them directly. |
| Freshness | 0.20 | 0.36 | +0.072 13% | Halves every 10 hours from the newest item on the story. This is the only factor that rewards a story for nothing more than being recent. |
Corroboration counts distinct organisations, once each, and only from tiers 1 and 2 — Hacker News appears on this story and counts for nothing. Freshness halves every 10 hours, so this ranking is a snapshot and will differ at the next build.
Apple introduced new MacBook Pro models featuring PROLED XDR Display technology that uses tandem OLED construction. The 14-inch and 16-inch laptops arrive November 6, starting at $2,899. Both sizes include touch-enabled displays and the Dynamic Island interface.
The displays deliver 2000 nits peak brightness in both HDR and SDR modes, with a 10,000,000:1 contrast ratio and 120 Hz variable refresh rate. The screens cover both P3 and Adobe RGB color spaces. Touch capabilities on the display allow users to manipulate 3D models and interact with onscreen instruments, marking the first time Mac laptops include this feature.
The new models use M5 Pro and M5 Max chips and support up to 128 GB of unified memory and 16 TB of storage. Battery life reaches up to 24 hours in designs weighing between 3 and 4 pounds. Additional features include Thunderbolt 5 connectivity, a 12MP Center Stage camera, enhanced six-speaker audio with deeper bass, and macOS 27 with Apple Intelligence and Siri AI.
