Gaming laptop GPUs are generally power limited, which often results in significant performance losses compared to their desktop contemporaries, especially for higher-powered GPUs. However, a new mod called NvpwrControl aims to increase performance of NVIDIA's latest RTX 50-series gaming laptops by increasing their power targets using baked-in power policies not available to consumers. The developer, who found the workaround by reverse-engineering NVIDIA's power management path, says that the mod supports the RTX 5070 Ti, 5080, and 5090 GPUs, with 140 W TGP 5070 Ti GPUs getting power targets all the way to 180 W.
