Why am I seeing this Ranked on corroboration — 2 independent outlets

2 independent outlets carried this — Eurogamer, Nintendo Life and Dot Esports. Agreement across newsrooms that do not share an owner is the strongest thing we can measure, so it carries the most weight.

It clears the bar without leading strongly on any one factor. A middling score is not a claim that the story is important — only that nothing about it is weak.

Link-outLink-out, because it scores 0.43, below the 0.50 bar for a write-up. Link-out means we point at the publisher and say nothing of our own.

Blended score 0.427 — every figure below is computed, none of it is editorial.
FactorWeightScore ContributionWhere it came from
Corroborationleads 0.35 0.61 +0.215 50% 2 distinct tier-1/2 orgs, counted once each: Eurogamer, Nintendo Life and Dot Esports. Saturates at 5.
Source trust 0.25 0.82 +0.204 48% Eurogamer is the highest-trust source on this story. Trust is taken from the best source, not averaged.
Pickup rate 0.20 0.00 +0.000 0% The sources carry no usable publish times, so the rate could not be measured from them directly.
Freshness 0.20 0.04 +0.008 2% Halves every 10 hours from the newest item on the story. This is the only factor that rewards a story for nothing more than being recent.

Corroboration counts distinct organisations, once each, and only from tiers 1 and 2. Freshness halves every 10 hours, so this ranking is a snapshot and will differ at the next build.

What happened

Legendary swordsman Miyamoto Musashi considered himself more an artist than a fighter. A keen strategist and a self-proclaimed master of war, I think it's Musashi's art that hits more keenly than his katana: it's minimalist, monochromatic, a study of nature defined by its simple brilliance. Whether intentional or not, I think Capcom may have internalised this philosophy when creating Onimusha: Way of the Sword - a game based loosely on the life and conquests of Musashi. Seldom over-complicated and often composed with artisanal skill, Way of the Sword takes the philosophies of 16th Century Japan's most influential martial artist and somehow applies them to video game development.
